Plain Dealing Middle/Senior High School is using Best Behavior (Sprague & Golly, 2004) to develop PBS. Best Behavior is a staff development program that describes how to implement a school-wide positive discipline plan that includes needs assessment, implementation, and evaluation phases. The following are key components of PBS as outlined in Best Behavior:
1. Expected behaviors for all school areas are clearly defined.
2. Expected behaviors for all school areas are systematically taught.
3. Problem behaviors are clearly defined.
4. Incentives and motivational systems are developed to recognize expected behavior.
5. Students are systematically supervised at school.
6. On-going training, assessment, and evaluation occur for staff members.
7. Systems are developed to measure and monitor the effectiveness of the intervention.
Plain Dealing Middle/Senior High School is committed to move from negative, punitive, reactive approaches to discipline to POSITIVE, PROACTIVE, PREVENTIVE approaches to discipline by developing PBS.

The icon will appear We are very excited to be able to reach more people in different ways so everyone can stay in touch and be aware of the great things that our students are doing. Students have been very involved in some extraordinary projects such as getting involved in the debate on politics on a national level. Our Biology II, students along with Coach Larson and Mrs. Srivastava, made local and national news with a genetic disorder study with Fainting Goats. The class visited Coach Larson's ranch to study the disorder. Channel 3 did a report that was picked up by the national news and seen on World News Tonight. Our football team finished the season with a winning record for the first time in 5 years. The basketball teams are about to tip-off a very exciting season. The girls will be defending a state championship. While the boys made the quarterfinals last year and are ready to prove they can carry on the tradition of great basketball at our school. We encourage everyone to come out and support the LIONS! Aubrey Sayes Principal - New Tech Executive Director
